About Me
-
Describe Yourself:I'm finishing a novel about Al Qaeda terrorism and Sufi mysticism in Southern Spain. The working title is ANNIHILATION. Hopefully, one day you'll see my plays on the Great White Way (And why not? Every true American playwright dreams of Broadway between 42nd and 49th Street!) I've had my plays produced off-Broadway in SoHo,THE JOURNAL OF ALBION MOONLIGHT, Ohio Theatre, 1986; in SF's Mission District MARAT/KENNEDY (1991) & Soma District, FATHER FIGURED 1991; in Hollywood , Los Angeles, REAL LIFE 2.0 at the Stella Adler Theatre; and in Century City, Los Angeles, SATISFACTION GUARANTEED (2002) at the Century City Playhouse. This website is my bilingual Poetry Blog.
Here I'm preparing a volume of verses that speaks in a panoply of disparate anguished voices about this atrocious age of unabashed arrogance, ignorance and stupidity the American people are being subjected to from their leaders, religious and political. There is a countervailing, singular lyrical murmuring hiding behind the public poet. speaking in a (hopefully) more intimate, softer voice, addressing the loved ones who have brought me out of my own crises through the power of love and argument. My lyrics chronicle their passions, obsessions, and my individual bonds with each one of them through time. All of these poems--the public screeds & dramatic monologues as well as the private reminiscences & fables of trauma and redemption--I've dedicated to specific persons who have made a major difference in my life, as well as the lives of many people throughout this blazing, hyper-charged world spinning out of control like a dreidel on fire. -
On Gather, I'm Looking For ...:the most compelling poets and their poetry on this blog to read, interact with, and learn from. I want to make lucid, constructive comments to fellow poets and receive them in return. That is all. And perhaps a few long distance friendships, particularly with poets who are looking for an opportunity to have their poetry staged: When I'm not living in Spain, I have a theatre company in Los Angeles.

David D. Gilbaugh, May 28, 2009, 12:22PM EDTHey bro - I enjoy reading revisions in your poems. I checked out "ouroboro's bite" and noticed you had an update to the dedication but I don't know about the text.
I never copied it so I can't reference it. I remember something about the "morning sparrow" but maybe that was another reference. -
Kenneth A., May 28, 2009, 5:59AM EDTBut of course! You are a torro, like my son Achille! Even if days later, I wish from my heart a new year in your life full of significance and precious creations of rhythmic WORD! I am sure, a very happy birthday John!
